One Person Injured in Koh Rong Fire

Sihanoukville: A chef has been injured in a fire that broke out on Thursday morning in Koh Touch Village on Koh Rong, off the coast of Sihanoukville. Police say the fire started in a small restaurant at around 8am and quickly spread.

Koh Rong Mayor, Nuon Bunthol, says the fire started when a gas leak reached a kitchen fire in the food stall, which was mostly made of wood and bamboo. A chef was injured, before the flames then spread to another shop nearby. Quick action by authorities and residents helped contain the blaze before it could spread any further.

Authorities have warned people to be extremely careful during the rainy season, with strong winds quickly fanning any leaks or flames that have been left unattended.
